'Cable is unhappy...'
I'm sitting here reviewing an engineering document called a Design Failure Mode and Effects (DFMEA). Basically you list down all the potential issues that you think can occur and what you're going to do to ensure that this failure doesn't occur. This is a document that should have existed long ago, but nobody did it. So I've got an old (circa 2006) document for a slightly different part that I am reviewing/revising to apply to my product. In reviewing this I found an entry that was quite hilarious. In the Potential Causes column, guess what that is, there's a line item for, '... Cable freezes binding lever.' In regards to that line item under the Current Design Controls column I find this, 'Cable is unhappy...' Which hopefully you can tell has nothing to do with design, nor a control method. It's so ridiculous I had to share it with some of my office mates who all got as good a laugh as I did. Even not knowing what the document is I hope everyone can get some enjoyment out of this. By the way, technically this document would be something summoned into court.
