Seriously?

Driving into work this morning really tired from another excellent BBQ over at Jörg's last night I was listening to the radio. Kid Rock's Sweet Home Alabama rendition came on einzlive and I switched over to BigFM. Regardless of the fact that Kid Rock is from the metro Detroit area I still don't like his crappy music. Sweet Home Alabama obviously is not an exception to the rule although I do like the original version. Unfortunately, it's the summer of Kid Rock here in Germany and ze German's apparently have a bigger hardon for Kid Rock than they do der Hoff... Once BigFM switched over to the traffic stau report I flipped back to einzlive (there are only 2 good radio stations in my area). I caught the last few notes of Sweet Home Alabama when the announcer came on and made the statement that Kid Rock's song is typical American country music. A fan of pretty much all music except country I could not personally validate this statement, but based on my knowledge of Kid Rock's usual crap I figured the statement was quite wrong. So I pose the question to any country music lovers out there that are familiar with Kid Rock's crappy rendition, 'would Sweet Home Alabama by Kid Rock be considered typical country music?' Carolyn, I'm thinking of you in this instance. But as many people who have opinions and want to share them with me or everyone are welcome to respond.

Not a country music fan, but I feel confident in declaring NO. First of all Sweet Home Alabama is southern rock, not country. Secondly, even if it was country it wouldn't be after Kid Rock covered it.

Kid Rock friggin sucks. Its an absolute disgrace to all the classic rock riffs he ripped off for that song (it starts off w/ Werewolves of London). I catergorize that music in the crap genre.

Kid Rock as typical country music? So if the Germans heard Sheryl Crow's cover of "Sweet Child O' Mine", that would be typical American rock music to them?Deutsche sind idioten.

As a country music fan, Kid Rock needs to stick with swearing and screaming into the microphone. He could never hold a hat to Garth Brooks!
