Duck...?

Went out to dinner with Paco last night. He took me to his favorite Chinese restaurant in the world. He stated that it was even better than the places he's eaten at in China. The restaurant was in Essen, about 10 minutes from Heiligenhaus. It was very nicely decorated and larger than most of the restaurants I've seen here. There was even a Koi pond in the middle of the dining area. They had GIANT Koi (goldfish). There were a couple that were more than a foot long making them very expensive. Regardless this made for an excellent ambiance.

We were the only guests in the restaurant since it was a bit early yet so the waiter brought us shots on the house along with our drink order. Paco convinced me that the duck was the best so that's what I went with. Auf Deutsch das ist Ente. So I had the Ente with peanuts, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, carrots, white rice, and a delicious sauce. For the first time ever having duck it turns out it is amazingly tender dark meat with a very strong flavor. Should you find an opportunity to partake in duck and have never had it I would highly recommend giving it a shot.

I love duck! Matt and I make this delicious gingery hot duck salad. Grilled and sliced duck brest over watercress or arugula with a ginger, chili, citrus dressing (I like a few dashes of sesame oil too). Ooh you should try duck confit sometime. It's like French fried chicken lol
